Why do Jerusalem artichokes look so different than other artichokes?

Jerusalem artichokes are actually an entirely different vegetable than artichokes. They are tubers which are members of the sunflower family. However, some people see a resemblance in flavour (rather than texture) between the two. You should try them both and see what you think!
