Poppy seed oil
Poppy seed oil is rich in omega-6 and vitamin E, making it a fantastic choice for looking after your skin and hair. It is thought to have calming and soothing properties and many people like to use it as a sleep aid or to help with stress.
It has a mild and nutty flavour, so you can take it neat or drizzle it over breakfast bowls, soups and stews. We particularly love it in a yoghurt parfait with fresh fruit.
Alternatively, you can use it directly on your hair and skin to nourish and moisturise. It also makes a fabulous natural massage oil; you can add other fragance oils to it as well if you like.
Poppy oil to sleep, perchance to dream…
We love to use our Organic Poppy Seed Oil as a traditional sleep remedy. To try it for yourself, simply take a tablespoon before bed (or drizzle over a dessert in the evening).
This is down to the presence of traces of opium alkaloids which are naturally present in the seeds. For the avoidance of doubt, you don’t need to worry about becoming intoxicated from eating poppy seeds (or taking poppy seed oil) in normal quantities.
