Our easy rose water cocktail is made with fresh passion fruit, grapefruit and orange for a tropical drink with a floral twist. Enjoy this passion fruit cocktail with friends and a few nibbles.

Time-tested ingredients stick around for very good reason. Rose water is no exception. Certainly its delicate, soothing, and life-affirming flavour dates from antiquity. The ancient Greeks and Romans saw rose gardens in the same way as corn fields. Want another interesting tidbit about rose water? Western bakers used it a lot more until vanilla took over in the 19th century. Historically, rose water has also been used in skin care. After all, it is as gentle as you would expect an ingredient made by soaking rose petals in water to be. You can feel its cooling effects the minute you put it on your face. Further, it is thought to be hydrating and anti-inflammatory. Rose water has mainly been associated with Middle Eastern cooking. It is such a lovely, romantic and versatile flavour to introduce into your kitchen. For instance, have you tried Bircher muesli made with rose water? That is to say, if you have not, that's one recipe to put on the top of your list! rose water shots

Our rose water cocktail

Back to the point of this particular recipe. In halal cooking, rose water is often used as a substitute for alcohol in recipes. A rose water-based beverage is served to Muslim players by the Premier League instead of champagne. A celebratory juice cocktail based around rose water is only right, then. The floral, refreshing flavour certainly lifts you up and into a different plane as alcohol does. We distill Erbology Organic Rose Water Shots from Damask roses, known to be the most potent of blossoms. They are undiluted and unsweetened, delivering rose water at its purest. We decided the strong, energising properties of passion fruit are a nice balance to the lightness of rose water. And we admit it, we put citrus in nearly everything we can. However, grapefruit and orange are a wonderful match for the other ingredients. They are life-affirming together. Garnishes are as important for the success of a cocktail as the flavour. Grapefruit and orange make wonderful curls of peel and slices of glowing flesh to adorn your glass with. Citrus is so good for your immune system as well. We finish it all off with peppery basil.

How to serve our passion fruit cocktail

In conclusion, cocktails are perfect served with a plate of healthy canapés. For instance, we suggest honouring the Middle Eastern roots of rose water. How about raw muhammara dip with Erbology raw crackers? Rose water is cooling and that comes in handy here. Further, an intense dish for an intense drink is only right. rose water However, if you make these drinks in autumn or winter, a warm dish might be welcome. These green pea and celeriac canapes can be served warm or cold. Any type of heartier bean dip would work well too. Whatever you serve with your cocktails, the future is rosy.
