Why we love matcha
About our matcha green tea
Ceremonial grade matcha is the highest grade of matcha tea. It is traditionally used in Japanese Tea Ceremonies, an elaborate ritual in which the host treats their guests to the finest quality matcha, sometimes along with sweets, and which can continue for several hours.
Ceremonial grade matcha can only be made in Japan, from the youngest leaves of the camellia sinensis plant. Our tea is sustainably sourced in Kyoto.
Matcha is well-known for its impressive health benefits. It contains catechins, which fight free radicals and oxidative stress. Our matcha also contains naturally occurring l-theanine, a non-protein amino acid which has shown promise in reducing stress-related symptoms.
Sustainably sourced.
- Our 100% Tencha green tea is grown sustainably by small farmers near Kyoto, Japan. Prior to harvesting, the leaves of the plant are shaded with a reed screen to produce a vivid green colour and a mild, sweet flavour.
- Our farmers hand-pick, gently steam and dry the tea leaves before removing all stems and veins.
- The leaves are then ground to an extremely fine powder in a stone mill. Our Organic Matcha is stone-ground to order, making sure it’s always fresh.
- The finished matcha is shipped to us, and we pack it into environmentally-friendly amber glass jars. We then ship it to you, to enjoy at home.

Wonderful product
I had never tried matcha before, so Erbology’s UJI matcha was my very first. I absolutely love it! It’s wonderful as a warming afternoon drink. I’ve been making matcha latte using oat milk with a touch of vanilla and it’s so delicious! Highly recommended!

Trying Match for the first time
This is the first time I try to drink matcha. I know it has many health benefits, but I can’t actually compare to previous experience.
the powder is bright green, and has ‘bitter’ taste. This means it is probably of a very good and high quality. Eventually, since i’m a coffee person, I found myself using it more like spirulina powder, adding it to recipes (with mashed peas or salad dressing), rather then drinking it. overall, I’m pleased.
