About our matcha green tea

Ceremonial grade matcha is the highest grade of matcha tea. It is traditionally used in Japanese Tea Ceremonies, an elaborate ritual in which the host treats their guests to the finest quality matcha, sometimes along with sweets, and which can continue for several hours.

Ceremonial grade matcha can only be made in Japan, from the youngest leaves of the camellia sinensis plant. Our tea is sustainably sourced from the Kyoto region.

Matcha is well-known for its impressive health benefits. It contains catechins, which fight free radicals and oxidative stress.

Delicately done

To make matcha, the youngest, finest leaves are plucked before undergoing a careful stone-grinding process to maintain their natural flavor. The veins and stems of the leaf are removed to give a very smooth texture in the final powder, which has a vibrant, bright green color and a naturally mild, sweet flavor.

Sustainably sourced

  1. Our 100% Tencha green tea is grown sustainably by small farmers near Kyoto, Japan. Prior to harvesting, the leaves of the plant are shaded with a reed screen to produce a vivid green colour and a mild, sweet flavor.
  2. Our farmers hand-pick, gently steam and dry the tea leaves before removing all stems and veins. The leaves are then ground to a fine powder in a stone mill. Our Organic Matcha is stone-ground to order, making sure it's always fresh.
  3. The finished matcha is shipped to us, and we pack it into environmentally-friendly amber glass jars. We then ship it to you, to enjoy at home.
