About our turmeric powder

The ancient practice of Ayurveda has long revered turmeric for its amazing restorative powers and its ability to balance the three doshas (vital life forces). Used to treat a wide range of ailments from sprains and swelling through to digestive problems, turmeric is believed to be especially good at treating coughs, colds and sore throats.

Fast-forward to the modern day, and scientists have found turmeric (also known as Indian saffron) to have powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. Many of turmeric's health properties have been traced back to its active component, curcumin.

How to take turmeric

You can use our Organic Turmeric Powder in cooking and baking. However, to get the very best from this incredible spice, follow the Ayurvedic method of mixing it into a glass of warm water with a dash of black pepper. Alternatively, mix yourself up a soothing golden milk to relax and unwind before bed.

Turmeric and black pepper

We recommend adding a dash of black pepper to your turmeric drink. Not only do these two spices taste delicious together, black pepper contains an active compound called piperine. When consumed together, piperine increases the bioavailability of turmeric's active compound, curcumin, by up to 2000%.

Sustainably sourced

  1. Our turmeric is grown sustainably by small farmers in Karnataka, South India, and harvested between January and March. You can tell the turmeric is ready to be harvested when the leaves of the plant dry out completely and become yellow.
  2. The turmeric is sun-dried on the farm. Once dried, the turmeric is powdered and packed into environmentally-friendly amber glass jars. We then ship it to you, to enjoy at home.
