Is black walnut different from other walnuts?

Most walnuts that we eat are English walnuts. Black walnut mostly grows wild and has a stronger flavour. Black walnut is sometimes used in traditional medicine to fight worm infections, syphilis, diphtheria, and other infections. These nuts and their possible uses should be considered quite separately.
