Is it true that tigernuts are an aphrodisiac?

3 years agoUpdated

Tigernuts have historically been used as an aphrodisiac in various parts of the world. They are used this way in Ayurvedic medicine, and in Nigeria, men have used tigernuts for many years to combat erectile dysfunction, low sperm counts, and flagging libidos.

One study looked at tigernut consumption in male rats. Testosterone levels went up and mating became more frequent. However, the effects of tigernuts on the human libido has not been substantiated by science – yet!
